Always wanted to play 'Splosion Man, but kept getting distracted. Some day, 'Splosion Man. Someday...
I agree with this piece 100% and always thought I was weird for liking to watch others play nearly as much as playing myself. Videogame cuckolding is an extremely underrated pastime.
This sounds interesting. I'll have to check it out.
Reason #2 was the best, in my mind. #1 was too general and like a less specific version of #2.
It really, really does. I almost gave it an 8, but at the end of the day, I could see myself going back to it again and again throughout the years for all the wonderful things it does right.
I'd argue that the MGS series has been more forward-thinking than people give it credit for. The difference between MGS2 and 3:Subsistence (with the fully controlable camera) are staggering.
Though I do love the direction stealth is going in games like Batman where it's less about trial and error and more about reconnaissance and plotting an attack.
No Hitler= no sale. Will play more Bionic Commando Rearmed.
This game was probably my most pleasant surprise of the year, if not my fave GotY.
What I don't get is why people think the rewards program is "good enough." I mean you get 3 games ported over? Who owns a PSP and only 3 games? As such, I see no reason whatsoever to get a PSP go.
No one brought it up here, but Demon's Souls is a great game from this month (for those who didn't import it early, that is).
I'm curious how it holds up to non Dead Space fans. Personally, I got tired of endlessly slicing limbs off necromorphs in the first game.
Sounds like the review was at least fun to write, eh?
I agree wholeheartedly. And while I love the Zelda series with a passion, the one sticking point I've always had with them is that they tell you what an item is every time you find one. Must we really be reminded that a red rupee is worth twenty rupees fifty hours into the game? Preposterous!
Truly great game. Starts off slow, demos poorly, but once you get into it, it's really addictive.
@SlamVanderhuge
It's a nitpick for sure, but it's that sort of "it's just a game" logic that is holding the medium back. I mean the article references Shadow of the Colossus which is widely considered one of the best games of the decade without having any form of padding collectibles whatsoever. I feel like there are ways of making games fun that don't come at odss with the story.
I agree completely. And I don't think Faith was a very well developed character myself. Otherwise a good list though.
I disagree. It was a very slow summer until Shadow Complex and Batman. It's felt like a very slow year overall. Not that I'm complaining as my backlog is huge and I'm thankful for the drout, so I can go back and play the classics. But next year- oh man, is it going to be busy. Busy, and awesome.
No MGS4 Love Theme? For shame.
I prefer the PS3 controller myself. I like the shape and triggers of the 360 controller, but the fact that it doesn't come with plug & play cables to recharge whilst playing is a shame, and I hate the obtrusive spiraling green lights to let you know your batteries are running low- a warning that comes up while you still have hours of play time left.
Alas, the lack of the game industry is the one downside to Portland. I'd love to go to a launch event that consisted of more than me waiting outside a Circuit City for a Wii.
